lol, i know this is mean but it's hilarious.
"mj: comp blew up"
makes me think of it not liking his map and exploding sending capasitors everywhere.
It was cos my map was so amazing my comp couldnt handle it, sending capacitators everywhere....

yeah mj, send my condolensces to your capasitors....
im sorry i said that because i jsut looked at it again and that was an evil statement, but i stand by what i said before, that was too funny to share.
blue, how did your dad manage to not get fired for that? i can see it now.
your dad comes into the boss's office holding the scraggly remains of his keyboard and demands a raise.

Judging begins today!!
lizardkid,

, well it didn't literally blow up but... He says it's because he was typing to fast and it couldn't output the data as fast as he was putting in, right...

the comp is checking what he's doing at upwards 90 times per SECOND, that means he could write *quick simple math calculations* at least 5462 characters per minute...
no.
lol, he fired his comp, that's all there is to it.

Btw, it isnt mean, I fully accept that my PC was coin operated (10p peice per hour) And i need a new one! The fact it blew up just gave me an excuse to get a new better one!

TO ALL JUDGES: I think that we should have the scores into me or lizardkid by the end of the week, or Saturday and have the results up Monday, then consider viewer scores...

Yes MadMapper, maby we should have set a deadline on the JUDGING as well

Well I think you're right about having a deadline for the judging...
Well for some reason I don't think I have lizardkid's, seems like I did...
But anyway here are my and Bjarne's scores, no winner will be announced yet until all scores are in.

Blue60007 scores:
Echo_rancid:
Map name: Broken Rotary Bridge
Overall score: 86%
Comments: Nice ambient lighting, but could use point lights, or small amount of sun. You had small overlaps on the base of the shacks. I liked the loading screen. A very nice and original map :)
Tltrude:
Map name: Pontoon bridge
Overall score: 89%
Comments: I thought it was a shade to bright, but I loved the shadows on the water!! Maybe could have used a small shack or building for eye candy... I liked the ripple effects and explosions. Overall a very nice map :)
MadMapper:
Map name: Bridge
Overall score: 75%
Comments: Could have put a bar or something where the beams meet the bridge. Also I fell off onto the skybox  This was a small and simple bridge but VERY effective :)

Bjarne BZR scores:
Code: Select all
Pontoon bridge - tltrude
------------------------
Texturing - 8/15 (Nothing to comment)
Architecture - 12/20 (Looks realistic)
Audio - bonus - 4/5 (Nice triggered creaking)
Performance - 12/15 (A single flat brush would be faster)
Fun - 8/10 (You can hide in every boat)
Theme - 10/10 (Thinking out of the box)
Creativity - 9/10 (Never seen it before)
Scripting - bonus - 3/5 (Nice, but could be nicer)
Custom - bonus - 0/5 (No custom textures)
66/95 - 69%
Comment: This bridge shows a very nice ability to not do the obvious. This is not at all what you expect to get when you tell someone: build a bridge.
Broken rotary bidge - echo_rancid
---------------------------------
Texturing - 8/15 (Nothing to comment)
Architecture - 14/20 (A cool bridge)
Audio - bonus - 1/5 (Tried, but it does not work)
Performance - 7/15 (Those horisontal beams should have been a fence texture instead)
Fun - 10/10 (The that it rotates gets you totally stressed out)
Theme - 8/10 (A bit strange, but cool)
Creativity - 9/10 (Never seen it before)
Scripting - bonus - 2/5 (Eh... it... moves :) )
Custom - bonus - -1/5 (Missing texture(SH i presume))
58/95 = 61%
Comment: This is the bridge my girfriend like the most, so one of the few girls that will ever see this bridge declares it best in show ;). The best thing about it is not the bridge in tiself, but instead the feeling of total paranoia you get when running out onto it... will you make it across? Where will you end up?
Hurried bridge - MadMapper
--------------------------
Texturing - 4/15 (Bad texturing at the beams)
Architecture - 5/20 (A realistic bridge, thats it)
Audio - bonus - 0/5 (No audio)
Performance - 14/15 (Should have blasting FPS)
Fun - 3/10 (Not really a combat designed bridge)
Theme - 9/10 (It really looks loke its designed to work... like a bridge)
Creativity - 1/10 (Its functional, but not a pice of art - like a bridge)
Scripting - bonus - 0/5 (no moving parts)
Custom - bonus - 0/5 (no custom textures)
36/95 = 38%
Comment: This bridge is just that: a bridge. If the contest were about creating the archetype of a bridge (See the writings of C.G. Jung) it would have won by far. But in a contest where creativity and gameplay is a part of the judging, it simply can't compete. But if I owned an expensive car and had to select one of these bridges: this is the one ;)
There you go!
Thanks to Bjarne for the great organization on his score!

I'll try to do better next time.
