Hi,
I'm just wondering, is it possible to make the turret weapon rotate around the player instead of the player turning around them?

I think u could try to set the mg's origin to where the player is. But then, how could this be done? New model?

Well, Fungus, probably yes.

Even if that worked, which I doubt, the animations wouldn't match.
What I'm trying to do is to spawn an usable MG42 at the top of a tank turret and I want it to be 360-degrees-usable, preserving some realism.

well then 360 degrees isnt realistic because the gun cant be mounted inside the hatch... therwed have to be a lazy susan that the mg was mounted on forthe mg to be 360 degrees the tank turret would have to spin...
couldnt you look at the breakthru example?

Have you played Enemy Territory? The MG's... hmm... singlepod (is that a word?

) is bound to the hatch, and it spins around 360 degrees, while the player sits still at the same origin, just the angles change. That's the effect I want to get.

tried ET a long time ago, thought it sucked pretty bad. but thats imo.
why not do something like this...
Code: Select all
while(1)
{
$mg42.angles = $player.angles
$player.angles = ( 0 0 0 )
waitframe
}
it'd be pretty glitchy and it's a hack for sure but it's all i can think of.

I'm pretty sure this wouldn't work as changing a turret weapon's angles while it's being used does absolutely nothing and takes effect after the player drops it.

well how do they do it? do they glue turret and player. do they echo angles? hwo do they do it? obviously the turret turns wit hthe palyer.

this is exactly like (wacko, mj,)'s problem with the spinning platform....
i just played the game (and i played an obj version and won all by my self.. seriosly, i just spent 30 minutes on a server alone, and i win

)
and i think the guy was sorta just CARRYING the mg42, not having it attatched to a turret

i you can find a way for the player to posess an MG42 is the only way youre gonna get it done easily (or, thats what i think)

It took you 30 minutes to win an objective on an empty server???

I take about 5 mins to do that, depending on the map...
Well, Fungus, watch the intro and take a look at the player who mans the tank's MG. The MG rotates around him. That's exactly the effect I want to get.
@Lizard - it's another game engine, I don't know...

I'll take a look at the game source and see if I can find anything...
