i cant remember where i read this, but heard you could use a removed item somewhere else in the map. Does anyone know how/if this can be done?

You can't use anything that's been removed.

Code: Select all

$gatenorth.origin = ( 0 0 0 ) // your new gate coords
$gatenorth.angles = ( 0 0 0 ) // your new gate angles

just to clarify, Rookie means you should move it (and physics off and hide it would be good) to somewhere under your map or very high up, then just change the origin back to where you want it.

That's quite pointless, don't you think? :? You can move it to where you want it to be immediately...

uhm, not sure what the meaning of that was...

what i meant to do was say "What rookie means is if you change the origin of the thing to somewhere else then move it to where you want it when you're ready you should have the same effect"

Yeah, I know, but I can't see the point of moving it temporarily to one place and then move it to the destination. :? Why not move it to the destination at the beginning? :?

oh, i thought that's what you meant. take it out and use it later by moving it far far away. :oops:

well if you move it's origin you can use it twice by moving it's origin again to where you want it the second time. But why not just make two? unless you're going for low brush/entity count...

How to copy a script_object (lets assume local.ent is the thing you want to copy):

Code: Select all

local.newent = spawn script_object
local.newent model local.ent.brushmodel
And now you can place local.newent wherever you want.

Yes, you can use it as many times as you want until it is removed, so if you intend to re-use it hide it and give it new origins and angles and show it when needed
