Plea for more good single-player maps

I've just gotten into the game and, dammit, I'm hooked. The trouble is, I don't know who plays in my area so no LAN gaming -- and I'm really not too savvy when it comes to gaming *online* with groups of people (how do you organize something like that?!).
Basically, there seems to be a pile of really great maps and mods out there -- but they're all for deathmatching or free-for-alling or general group play. I'm desperately searching for a few good single player maps I can play with.
(And please -- can we leave off the "keep the captain alive or you fail" missions? AI comrades aren't to "I" and annoy the crap outta me.

)

Most people don't like SP maps because they say the AI is too easy. I guess i'm the main SP maker nowadays. I've never made an MP map
online gaming is a skill, contrary to more older-fashioned beliefs. The more you practice and work, the better you get. i started playing online about a year ago. now i'm in the #4 clan on the TWL ladders.
SP is great, but MP is also really fun if you get to know how to play it
back to your question, There are very very few
good SP maps for MOHAA, as a general rule, people attatch "SP custom map" with "POS".
Try downloading Corfu Liberty, that's stock game quality that is. That's the only one i'd recommend, i don't like any other SP map. most are a bunch of idiot wannabe-mappers making blocks for geometry and throwing AI everywhere.

Yeah, Corfu Liberty's great - it's almost like a "real" MOH:AA map

What about the Iron Tusk stuff (by Cobra)? It's quite a mess and I'd never manage without cheats but I think it's still worth a download...

If you want to start playing online best get the All-Seeing Eye trial and you'll find tons of people to play with in seconds

Try Manstein's SP maps, they're quite good, too. And check out the review section on this website.

Thanks, all.
Corfu's interesting. Crapload of Nazis -- dang. That's a toughie.
I really like Cobra's Tusk series. Very nice.
Lizardkid, I'll be looking for your stuff -- and Manstein. Who is it who does all those Steinheder-Meer maps? Very cool.
Okay, at some point I'm going to have to try this online -- but here's the really dumb Q:
How do I, a lone player with no connections and no circle of MOHAA gaming buds, go about finding a random game somewhere I can join in on? And -- oy -- how do I actually *join*?

Just like jv said - get ASE and you'll have tons of players to play against, in your own country.

Hm. Can't be that easy.
So I do it from the game, eh? I'll have to give it a shot.
Thanks again, folks.
I think I'm going to like this forum. Folks are friendly and helpful. One doesn't always run into that.
Over the next few months I hope to start doing some skinning and mapping myself (I'd really like to do a WWI mod and put this in Verdun or the Somme). I hope I can get some help as I work on it. (Of course, the
big problem here is that I'm a Mac user and not a PC user. Mapping isn't going to be easy. Sigh...)

make sure u got the patch also. otherwise the search online wont be there;)
if u cant find anything about online u prob need the patch.
lastest version is 1.11
in console ( hit ` with console enabled in options) type shortversion and see what it says.
However ASE like jv suggested is way better.

i like Gamespy personally. Never tried ASE, GS has good features like rating, news on games, etc.
