Weird Crashing Problem

Here's the scoop, one day i tried going into mohaa... didn't work.... i was like 'wtf?' (this was a day right after we had a match, so nothing should have changed).... so i go into my eagames/mohaa folder and notice that my .exe is missing.... i check recycling bin... not there.... eh.. w/e... ill just get the nocd patch from a site, i get it, i put the .exe in the folder. (i checked with a friend to make sure i had all the files he did, just incase something besides the .exe was missing.... nothing that we saw...).

alright, so now i have a .exe back in there, i try and follow a friend through mohaa.. it doesn't open at all, the console part of it gives me the error 'could not find default.cfg' or something, w/e so i get a different version of the nd_crack, i replace the old one and try and follow a friend, this time it opens up the game, connection timed out (nothing unusual.. always does that the first time for me) so i open up console and type reconnect. My friends say that im coming in the server, but to me, when the 'loading map' screen should come up.. well ... the game completely crashes. No errors, no nothing.. just shuts down.

Any ideas of what i could do?

Oh yes, and to complicate things even MORE... Around the same time my stupid CD ROM failed (i only have 1 disk drive...) and it doesn't read ANY discs... so say goodbye to repairing or reinstalling.

I gotta find a solution without doing one of those....

[update] - I did a disk scan on a restart and it said that my mohaa.exe was not a valid file and that it had been 'truncated'....... Perhaps this is more fuel to the fire of what the hell is wrong :P

i believe theres a no_cd exe that comes with missionary in the c:/missionary/no_cd folder.

i stopped playing matches recently when missionary deleted my .exe's. fortunately for me only special programs like that use the stock .exe's, i use special demo ones.

my advice: sue Black Bart.
my secondary advice: torture Black Bart
my primary advice: Strangle Black Bart

your only option is to clean install MOH, keep the virus, er, i mean Rev, away from your MOH, and continue.

well it aint your only option. but it's the best one. repairing something like that is a little more complex than i know how to do, and imo it isnt worth it.

BUT! since you can't do that, let's get some ideas rolling.

1. Do you crash on any server you try to go into?
2. Type logfile 2 in console and reconnect, then check it out, usually console can eek out a quick error before MOHAA dies.

i never had a problem wit missionary. The only time it deletes any files at all is if there cheats or altered files that wasnt stock. And if your running missionary it tells you to fix all that stuff b4 running missionary.it is supposed to be played like stock out of the box. All you have to do is email black bart and he will send any files needed, Once i deleted my sound folder on accident. He sent me a link to download a new sound folder.

Check if the gamex86.dll and cgamex86.dll files aren't corrupted (compare the file sizes with your friend).

Thanks guys...

The driver "gamex86.dll" was corrupted i believe like you said Rookie..

But i took the alternate remedy by system restoring to a previous date.

Gamex86.dll is the game library, not a driver.

Come to think of it, it couldn't be the cause of the problem unless you played SP or hosted a server. However, it could be the client game library (cgamex86.dll)...

wrong. 6.1.1 (or whatever is the latest one) deletes any non-stock.pk3, deletes your .exe files, and moves all others that the game doesn't actually need. like readmes. It also sets your config to default and will not change it back.

imo the virus isn't worth it, i recently cleaned it with my VirusScan and double-checked manually, i don't trust something when it's supposed to be benevolent and it starts deleting and reverting.
