.Map :: MoHAA Mapping

Well Hello u all. did some serious searching before finding this site. Can U help anyone.My Question..Sperhead public server...???? = You know when you pull up game spy and go to a game on the network/sometimes you go to a site that has different maps/well thats the ??...I have looked everywhere for the answer......Some sites have maps that the client does not have to download.the server has them..as far as we can see there r quite a few of them. You know besides the moh sp regular maps/there r some more (different maps ) you can play WITHOUT the client having to downloadng them. Can anyone help..We have played on quite a few of them/some r very cool maps....But we can not find a list of them..There r somewhere. Can anyone help.....Thanks to all/last ditch effort !!!!!!!!

What do you mean with "different maps"? Are the maps totally different, or are the maps modded (models are added in the stock maps), or is it a singleplayer map modded to MP?

Well, as far as I know, it's not possible to have serverside maps (custom maps). But it is possible to add stuff (models etc) in stock MP maps and use SP maps for MP without that clients have to download it first. It's all scripted.

Clients have to download 'new' maps first before they can play it on a server.

Hi...that was quick..thanks.....Well lets see..I just joined a game from the ip list gamespy (public spearhead)..The map was the m4l1 ???...i did not load that map n my mainta folder..But its the sub (submarine)new map..Its new/and I can play it also.. I have join quite a few servers with the new maps on them and played. The maps r not the regualar sp moh maps. I can not seem to find these maps/they r not coustom maps which the client has to download. I spoke to melfy (the CTF guy). In his mods for CTF he had allot of custom maps/i check his fourm to no avail. To find out which maps I could put on to my 3 public server to play...Its a funny thing /that i'm having that problem....They r servers that have maps which everyone can play and you do not have to download the maps to play on the server..these maps r not the regular standard moh maps that came out with the game...But if you played the game on your PC you can play these maps. I believe these maps have been modded completly using the old maps converted to new ones. I hope i explained it /so you can understand my problem...Can u help..Thanks

Ok yes what you mean is that they're the stock maps but they've had stuff removed or added via script.

It's not possible to make a map completely serverside, clientside players MUST have the exact same copy of the BSP as the server does, otherwise they're kicked.

Maps with names like m4l1 are single player maps that have been modded (script only) so they can be played in multiplayer mode.
The bsp is already on your pc in one of the stock pk3's. The script itself runs via the server, therefore the modded one is not required client side, only on server side.

These "Server-Side" mods are all script mods = They only have modified scripts as already indicated by lizardkid.
