Dieppe Reviewed!

Post by jv_map »

Reviewer became reviewee today, as I took Mj's map Dieppe for a spin and wrote a review about it. In summary a map with exceptional architecture so definately a must download for us mappers.
  • Dieppe is an interesting medium-sized DM/TDM map by the well-known mapper Mj. Presumably based on the events of August 19th, 1942 - when an Allied seaborne invasion of this town miserably failed, this map doesn't offer many leads to confirm so. It does however feature a marvellously architectured town, with plenty of narrow streets and alleys to fight about.

Very late reply:

First, awsome map :!: I love the cobwebs and the Snake fountain is cool too.

:?: One guy in my clan is haveing trouble with the windows. When they are broken, he sees just a grey texture, cant see thru. This is the only map it has happened on, so I thought maybe there was a custom window texture. I didn't see any in the pk3, so I figured I'd ask here.
Anyone know why this might happen and how to fix it?

Hmm most likely that would be an issue with his particular vid card/driver combination. Are his vid drivers up to date?

Well I had him pull out all his custom pk3's so it isn't that, sorry I didnt mention it.

Not sure about his graphics cards, I will try to ask, he is Italian, Im American and comunication is challenging at times
The thing that gets me is all the other custom maps he has tried work fine.

Thanks for the help guys, sorry to highjack the thread...so I'll get back on subject again:

Cool map.

Maybe you should learn more about light rendering because the lighting on this map looks like you just placed a few colored light entities to brighten up a little with no apparent light source. Look is its lit up orange here for no reason. ;) More attention to detail is needed as well. Like I said in another response to one of your maps, its just boring. Might do better to just make huge square blocks with brick textures.
