Hats off to all the Canadians, British, and Americans who went to those beaches. 8-)

My grandfather was the pilot for a flying fortress (dont know the model name) during D-Day and after.

WOW, that's cool!! When I got load of money I'm gonna fly in a B-17 (and a P-51).
I know a B-17 pilot too (he was, umm, navigator), shot down over Norway... He actually met the German pilot who shot them down years after the war...

See, THAT sucks when you live in Switzerland...

I'd say the more u or ur family had to suffer from WW2 or any war, the more it sucks.

Yeah, sure, you're right. But that's not what I was saying: I mean, there's nobody roung here who could tell you about WW2... Of course, my granddad was a soldier back then and my grandma had been attacked by fighters when she was in a train (she lives in Schaffhausen, that's at the German border... The city got bombed by allied planes on 1 April 1944, I believe).
I'm damn glad it's so peaceful here, don't get that wrong!!

Seems like a good thread to show my d-day flash movie, I know some of you seen it a long time ago but I guess a few of you have not.

Its pretty cool, just a piece of music, Eisenhowers speech and some pics I grabbed from the web.

edit: My uncle served in the war, he invaded Africa and then went onto invade mainland Italy, he showed me some of his war souvenirs and photos, not a nice thing :(

Hey Jack! Thanks for sharing that!! Looks great, man!! One thing, two or three of the pics don't fit the D-Day subject (the one of the PTO and the one with the Germans on the Eastern front throwing nades...)
Where you from? What unit was your uncle, if I may ask?
