Umm, I guess the sun.bsp is not in that folder then... What is it anyway? A map? What are you trying to do with it? Where does the message show up?

1. Have you put sun.bsp in your maps folder?
2. Is it the right gametype?

a .bak file is an automatic backup of your .map file you can use it if your .map file ever gets curupted in some way . .lin and a .vis are created when you try to compile a map with a leak in it that is also why you do not have a .prt file . Open radiant and choose file->pointfile and you will see a red line going from inside your map through the leak to the outside of your map . Fix the leak and you will have a .prt file and better frames per second because the vis stage of the compile was done .

if you did not have a leak then you would have a .prt file and no .lin or .vis file .

If you have a .lin file after compiling, you have a leak.
