Mohradiant

Something very weird is going on! I have made maps in the past so I am (or at least I thought) fimiliar with the project settings. I am currently working on a "scary" map and when I try to compile the map, all i get is a .bak and a .map. My program won't make a bsp file for some reason. I tried un-installing but the problem persists. Does anyone have an idea why this is??

I use mbuilder it is much easier to use I have never used the mohradiant way of doing it . You can find a link on the front page I think .

.. could be so many things, wrong paths in project settings, wrong paths to the compile tools, compiling from within radiant (no good) etc.
A .bak and .map are being created when you save your map, not when you compile.
Get Mbuilder and make sure the paths are set right. The compile tools (q3map and mohlight) must be in the same directory.

I just use a batch file that calls up q3map. 1 Click and it compiles all the steps I want, makes a pk3 and copies the files to my "main" directory. But of course, this only works if you have everything in the right directories to begin with.
If you are not getting a BSP file, you could be getting errors in the BSP process. If you write out a logfile during your compile, you will find out where the compile is getting interrupted. It's a good chance there is a leak screwing up your portal file. (That was my problem the last time my BSP stage didn't work).
I'm at work, so I can't post a copy of my batch file. But a lot of people here use them so I'm sure someone will have one up long before I get home.

An error like max surface info that is caused by too many shaders in your main directory can stop a bsp from being created so if you have lots of custom paks move them out of main to a temparary directory until after you compile the map .
