You can't without recompiling or hexediting the map. Either way it will require a client download.

is there a tut on hexediting?

how to put a sunflare into a custom map(no source.map)?

this Map will cast a sunflare in same spot as the previous loaded map in rotation that had a sunflare! but has no sunflare of its own for those joining into the map new!

Probably the author did not set the sunflarename worldspawn property to none. This must be done in the source .map before compiling.

it seems it is not possible to script a fix for this?

i want to set sunflarename to none or assign a sunflare - either will fix this particular map - and i believe there are a few others like it as well.

is there a hexedit tut? anybody?

No. And if there's no sunflarename parameter specified at all, you can't fix it. There are no hexedit tutorials that I'm aware of, but it's pretty straightforward.

Open up a hex editor, open the BSP, search for the thing you want to change and change it...

OK, I tried this... i got an editor and i changed some bsps.

For starters i thought id try removing the sunflare first(as this seems like an easier test) so i chose mohdm1 and mohdm6.

It worked! But when i tested it serverside. it didnt work on mohdm1 like it did clientside.

And.... for mohdm6 i got a map checksum mismatch error.

If this does work serverside - im missing something???? and in the case of mohdm6 I don't know, maybe too much edit?

i Have seen that too but it does not work server side. I tried.

If the hex edit works it is the best bet. Just need someone whos done it.

Viper, I said at the very beginning that you'd need a client download after hexediting. Sunflare is a client-side thingy.

I'm surprised you got a checksum mismatch on mohdm6 only... :? Are you sure you saved mohdm1? ;)

There can't be 2 files with the same checksum unless they have exactly the same content. Changing just 1 byte in a file changes its checksum.

That sunflare hack you're speaking of is a client-side cheat and you shouldn't spread it. ;)

There is a server that forces it into your config. i tried searching for it's parameters but realized it'd be ok, my config's read only anyway. next time i started up MOH it was gone.

I think you're quite wrong, Lizard. ;) Sunflare hasn't got any cvar or command associated with it, which means you can't turn it off from the console. The hack I'm speaking of is a pk3 that just overrides the light rings' textures with blank alpha channel TGAs, which makes the sunflare invisible.

your right Rookie, I forgot and i was missled by some other posts (elswhere) that claim otherwise. But it looks like I should be able todo what i want to since this is a custom map.. and will be clientside.

Exactley why i didn't.
