Surface Inspector (Texture Surface) Texture doesn?t fit

Post by Goerni »

Hello.
First I want to out myself. My native language is German, so please be patient with my english. Also I?m a Newbie in Mapping.

I?ve made a few tutorials and I try to build a small map with a house (should be more a box) and a sky.

Now I?m trying for 2 days to bring up the Textures in the right size. If I press "S" i open the surface inspector and i make my texture fit to my brush. But if I test my Map the Texture doesn?t fit anymore.

The Inspector has an effect of the Texture, but it seem?s to be, that I must allways make my Textures in Mohradiant by the factor 2 bigger than they in the test appear.

I think it must be possible that these textures I see in the Mohradiant exactly like the Appearience in the Game?!?

If you have further questions to solve this problem I can write more details.
Thank you

Try using Ctrl + F to fit the texture to the brush :)

I hope you will be successful

I have also the problem on 3 (!) different Computers. So it can?t append on the Systemconfiguration.

Mhh, so I wait for your answer :)

I had that same problem a couple of days ago with a map that had never done that before.

Try renaming the .map before you compile it. That's all I did and it works fine now :?

what i do when something like this occurs is delete the brush and remake it exactly as it was. it usually works. i always use Ctrl-F and i've never had this problem :S

what kind of scale are you making this?

Hi, sorry, but I don?t know what you mean with "What kind of scale".

And delete the brush will not help, because I start always from the beginning. I mean this problem occurs always when I start a new easy "5-Minutes-Map".

Please can you post a picture of you?re Preferences Screen and the compile command for making .bsp files. Maybe there is a false setting.

Thanks

scale

Most first maps are too big. Make the door 128 x 64.

Here is a link for a video tutorial on basic room.

It came from this web site: http://www.carbongraphx.com/mohaa/vidtuts.html

Are you using caulk and NOT blanklight map or whatever it is :P

Try using a different texture and don't scale it.

Problem solved.

Hi, my mistake. I didn?t use the Mbuilder. But I don?t really understand it, cause the mbuilder is a frontend and there are the same compilers in the background.

Anyway, with mbuilder it works great for me. Thanks for all answers.
Especially thank goes to MJ, Wacko and IvaN. You?re really nice guys. Thanks.

And here is my first result. (Also thanks MJ for your prefabs. I?ve stolen them now )
