to read up on making exploding barrels but the site appears that its been hacked or someone is playing a joke.

i think thye just changed it with the premade features. since Bjarne isn't around i'll go fix it...

I edited all the pages that he changed, and repaired some. Bjarne looked like he was editing too so it'll be normal soon.

He's still on there changing. i hope Bjarne does weekly/monthly backups.

I mailed Bjarne a week ago when I was seeing strange text across the site. He knows about this and said it had to do with the Wiki-editing and spambots:(

yep, Bjarne got it passworded now, so anyone who needs to edit it has to get the pw, which isnt given out without sacrificing your firstborn.

When I first heard about wiki I thought something like that was bound to happen eventually . Some ppl just get off doing harm .

they get off more on the distress any damage they cause creates, because in thier impotent lives they feel powerless and weak, therefore they must seek out any way, however hollow to feel that they are powerful, rather then the shallow, weak shell of a sub-human malcontented, degenerate that they truely know themselves to be. =)

bdbodger and Splaetos: you are confusing these spammings with hacker-morons. Hacker morons are not drawn to editing Wikis because anyone can do it.

This spamming is fuled by the desire to get your own porn/viagra/junk site higher in search engine results. Entering a lot of links to a site in open Wikis using a bot can be a time/cost-effective road to higher rankings in search engines as the automated search engine indexers can see that the site has lots of links referencing it.

Unfortunately the negative effect on those targeted by these spam attacks is far greater than any positive effect these porn/viagra/junk sites may get from the spam.

Well I just ment that the open concept makes it subject to abuse .

It is indeed. I was amazed at how long it took for bots to be used to spam actually.

and I just meant the internet is pretty jam packed with idiots =)
