Are static entities the only thing that creates "poly counts", and is there a way to tell how many each entity will produce ?
to be entirely truthful: no.
brushes are simply things that are easily made by the mapper, durig compile they are converted to the same sort of thing that any static model is. so no.
but poly count is usually a modeller term, so in that sense yes, static models are the only things that produce polys.
No, a poly counter would span the whole bottom of yourscreen, there's thousands of polys in each model, so it's not really plausible.
There might be something in fps counter... never really looked.
