ERROR

LoadTGA: only type 2 (rgb), 3(grey), and 10 rgb tga images supported
Has something to do with loadscreen ? If so, need to delete it because screwed it up trying to "fix" error a couple of months ago. Only get blank loadscreen. Any help please.............

I should have mentioned that this is one of the released map files. The tga is already there....sort of. It comes up as grey/black screen when I try to load map. I looked through the pak files in mohaa and can't find the tga for this map. It was either deleted or renamed. Now TGA doesn't show up. Short of doing a complete re-installation of the game, is there a way to get rid of that damaged loading screen ?
JUST put it on another machine..does the same thing. When I did the other original map files, when you go to join game, noloading screen or screen errors come up. Any ideas on how I can fix this ? Original screens still show up when loading original map......

Delete the folder named "ui" from the pk3 for that map. Or just delete the "loading" .urc file in the ui folder.

I tried to delete the urc file. All that accomplished was removing the original load screen for team_obj3. There was no tga in the ui.The original map loads, but when I recompile it ( from the released files download ), and rename it or leave it named the same, I get the error. Shouldn't happen but it does. Not one of the other maps gave me this problem. I tried to make my own load screen for the map, but as my photoshop abilities wain........no soap. Still get the error.
If there is anybody out there who has recompiled this map, please let me know where I can get the map file. I've been screwing with this one map, off and on, since it came out. All I'm doing is growing old and getting agravated....I'm a postal employee......getting agravated isn't good for postal employees........lol........please help.....

Thats where I got it from. Last night I went and put everything on a new machine. ( reformated and new mobo, chip etc. ) Same thing happened. Is that file corrupted or what. Whats happening shouldn't happen ! Thats why I asked, if somebody else did it, please let me know.
3 machines....same results................??????????

Which map are you referring to?

About the error:
this usually means there is an incorrect referrence to an image format in a shader. So...it does not necessarily HAVE to do with a loadscreen at all, but with a shader.
In general a .tga extension may be referring to a .jpg image, but there is one exception. In some shaders there is a line:
qer_editorimage textures/folder/name.tga

When that line is used in a shader, both the extension and the image it is referring to must be a Tga, otherwise you'll get that error.

This may explain the "LoadTGA'-error, but getting a blank loadscreen is most of the times caused by:
-an incorrect shader
-an incorrect or missing alpha channel

So, did you change anything in the shader or the tga image for that particular loadscreen?

can't find textures/mohtest/minefield_omaha tga...........thats what just came up. Went on web, downloaded source files again, redid everything, and thats what came up, along with the original error. Do I have to make a new textures folder, if I can find that texture, and put it in main ? This has happened in three machines. Can't figure out why it should happen.
The original map still loads...no problems...is something being "lost" during compile ? Except for the urc...see above

If the texture itself shows up ingame then ignore that message. Like I said it's because of that qer_editorimage line that's used in some of the shaders...

This is the shader, as you can see the line is in there, and it's supposed to load a texture called minefield_omaha1.tga. But.. the real texture is a jpg so the console reports that "error".
Btw those sourcefiles are just the .map files and have nothing to do with those texture and loadscreen errors.

I assume you are recompiling a stock map from the released map-sources? If so, when you change the name of the map (bspname), you'll also need to copy and rename the .urc and .tga file that were used for that map and make a new shader in order to make the loadscreen work.

The shader and urc are standard and you can copy them from the sticky post on LoadingScreens. The original loading-tga's can be found in Pak1.pk3

To make it work you'll need to place the files in the right folders:
shader -> main/scripts
urc -> main/ui
tga -> main/textures/mohmenu/dmloading (or objloading)

OK...I'll give it a try.....but can't locate the loadscreen tut.....sitting in front of screen getting headache searching.......will try again later.......thanks
