Truck Waypoints.

Post by Hell_Soldier »

my truck is following my waypoints pretty well, until it passed by that car in the screenie and start humping it instead of driving to the next waypoint.

whats the problem?

i marked its path with a black arrow:

and here is a picture of that section in the editor:

and i use a pretty simple script for it:

Code: Select all

truck:
$trk drive $wap
wait 30

goto truck

end

sorry i have no advice just want to applaud you for using the word 'hump' in your descriptive. too many posters don't use any kind of explanation but your's should be made as a sticky on how to post. :mrgreen:

lmao, i agree wtih PKM on this one. it's the funniest thing i've ever seen in a map/mod.

in all seriousness, however, it's a dimension problem. the truck has to ride up (pun intended) on the other car just to get around the bend. widening the road or changing the angle of the car mgiht fix it.

i already tried widening the road and give the truck a wider path, and still at the same point it went for that car.

once it even got over the car and just kept going until it was stuck.

its like the truck reaching that certain point and suddenly ignores the waypoints.

though i havent tried changing the angle of the car, think it will help?

in any case, any other ideas?

P.S. i dont listen to aerosmith, not now, now ever!

waypoints

Try adding more waypoints so the truck turns streight before it reaches the car--maybe just one more will do it.

You need to give a truck new orders or it'll just ride on carelessly.

Tell it to drive path again

Code: Select all

truck:
  while($trk)
  {
    $trk drive $wap
    $trk waittill drive
  }
end
or tell it to stop

Code: Select all

truck:
  $trk drive $wap
  $trk waittill drive
  $trk stop // or fullstop (hit the brakes!)
end

ok so now i want to bind a wood clip to the car, how do i do it correctly?

from what i tried the truck just went up the air and didnt moved, or that it moved but the wooden clip stayed in its place.

so how do i make the wooden clip bind to the truck and move along with it?

make the clip all one script_object, give it a targetname (for instance, $clip) and put this in just after level waittill spawn.

$clip bind $truck

assuming your trucks' name was $truck and the clip was $clip

Almost, but better do:

$truck collisionent $clip

I'm not sure if the clip automatically disappears from the map, so you may have to place it under the terrain or anywhere where it doesn't do any harm.

The script_object ($clip) should have an origin brush (a brush with texture common/origin on all sides whose centroid defines the origin of the clip) which matches the relative location of the origin of the truck (the point where the angle arrow originates from). If this isn't done correctly the clip will be offset from the truck somewhat.

Hence say if the origin of the truck would be at the driver's seat, then give your $clip object an origin brush centered at the corresponding location in the clip.
