umm... animals dont 'play around' where food is concerned.

Animals cant go to the grocery store or order up a pizza =) If they dont eat, they die.

They are kind animals who just hang out with eachother...

hyenas and lions as soul mates? i think not.

that's pretty accurately depicted, the lions kill, the hyenas try to drive the lions away and take the food. It's all real fighting, but they dont kill one another, they're just trying to gain ground. Since animals have no other way to heal besides naturally, anything with a bad enough wound would probably die anyway. That lion with the leg wound? it'll probably fester and he'll be crippled, the pride will either leave him when they move about or he wont be able to share the pride's food and starve.

so even though they dont outright kill anything but a gazelle (or whatever that was), they'll definitely have some casualties from that.

That didnt look liek a serious wound, cats clean themselves, and cats in a pride clean each other, its always possible it will go bad, but theres no reason that any small would like that should be a death mark.

the hyena at the end might be another matter, I wouldnt care to be him.

clean

Cats don't lick their fur to keep clean. There is a natural deodorant in their saliva and they are masking their scent from pray. So, when your cat licks your face, it is because it stinks, not because of love.

It is the same for puppies. They lick your mouth because they want you to vomit up some food for them.

There's also natural antibiotics in their saliva that have remarkable healing power.
I have poison ivy right now and where my dog was licking has totally healed.
And no, it was on my arm.
