I just made some changes to my map.

added some new brushes
resized some old ones
and reaplied a texture to a floor brush

After that I compiled the map and started it to see the difference, but there was no difference.
So I open the map in radiant and notice that accept for some brushes everything else is Gone !
The file size is still the same 1,89MB and if i compile the .map file everything accept for the changes is still there.
I tried to rename the .bak to .map but when I open the renamed .bak file it shows the same :( only a couple of brushes...

If someone knows what to do please let me know.

btw this is what the console shows when i open the map in radiant:

Code: Select all

take an earlier .map file from your snapshot folder and after changing the name to read just "yourmapname.map'' open it in radient. if what i think happened, your map is gone (not counting the snapshot files). again, save save save.

I always save my map after almost every step I make so that realy isnt the problem.
The problem occured after I saved my map and later wanted to open it again and almost everything seem to be gone.
I also have lots of different backups witch I most of the time make at the end of the day
But today I did a lot of work wich i was gonne backup at the end of the day.
So all that work has to be redone again :(

i've had that same thing happen before, i think when you rename the snapshot .map file you have to even give it a new name to be safe because i would open it, everything would be there, then save it quick and reopen and nothing left ; would go from 2mb to 16k in one save.

ERROR

If it is not filters turned on, then your .map file is corrupted. It is not hard to do, and it is fixable. Just open the .map file with a text editor--like Notpad. Now comes the hard part because you have to find the error in the text and remove or repair it.

I had the same problem because I added quotes to a trigger message, but your error may be different. Anyway, it is an error in the text that is keeping the stuff below the error from loading in radient.

i believe that's what you told me to do a long time ago when i originally posted this problem, the only thing is you have to know what to look for or spend an while finding the extra character.

thx, I tried it but couldn't find anything :( so I decided to take a older backup file and just rebuild everything I lost.
was worth trying tough, so thx !

In radiant go to preferences, then look if the 'Use quake 3 .map format' is unselected. If not, make it unselected and try to load your map again.
