Making a hill higher afterwards?

I have a LOD terrain from an image. Even if i use whole scale from black to white, the rather large hill in the middle of map is still not high enough. Ive tried to edit surface vertices by selecting the whole hill area, but when it comes to vertex moving on z axis nothing really happens and most likely i manage to crash Radiant.
Im aware of that radiant plug which can creat terrain using brushes. Thats not the way id like to go into because id need to rebuild the whole map again. What im interested in is if theres a way to manipulate heights of the terrain in radiant. I also tried to use area filter and loading the terrain again into radiant but i guess you cant change heights that way.
Any tips or should i raise the hill vertex by vertex?

Things u might know already:
When loading an image, u can set the weight of the image... U could even load the image again over the already existing LOD and intensify the effect... (-> 'Sum with existing terrain' or 'Custom blend function')
Having the LOD, u can select and move more than one vertex by using the mouse, click, hold the button down, and drag the mouse across the vertices you want to select and then release the mouse button.
More or less vertices while holding ctrl and doing the same with still unselected or already selected vertices.
Then, u can set the area filter (Shift+A) to something higher and move vertices where their neighbour vertices will "follow".
If u had vertices u do not want to move anymore, u can select and lock them
Think u should load the terrain into a new map and play around with all the possible tools until u get used to them and/or get what u want

Thanks.
Is it possible to add another lod terrain using another brush and then "sum" original hill and the new hill on top of the former one?

Sure, give it a try

Ok. I made another terrain pic that includes only the hill, then managed to load an updated terrain. The new hill looks pretty ok in radiant. The problem now is, i cant compile the map. I spent 2 hours for setting all the nice details on the top of the new hill etc until i found its not working. After that i made some tests to see if the problem comes right after new LOD terrain. That seems to be issue.
I got these error messages in mbuilder:

I guess if its only the heights that can be changed. However, im getting a bad feeling the map is corrupted after applying a new terrain pic.

Code: Select all
************ ERROR ************
Terrain patch at (-2048,-2048): maximum height variation 532 > 510
As the message says, well, the maximum height variation of 532 units is more than the allowed 510 in one patch. The LOD is too steep somewhere. When u select ur LOD and go into vertex editing mode, u see the pink dots. But now, u also got one or some yellow dots. There it is. Lower or raise these vertices until they are pink.

Right. Height has been corrected now.
