My system crashed :cry:

Every once in a while I do a cold boot.....not any more! My Mobo is getting power but not the CPU, seems one of the voltage regulators went kaapluwie. Its time, the system is 6 years old.

Im building my system again from the ground up and I've about decided on a Mobo, The ASUS P5 series (P5AD2-E Premium)

I dont like intel... but thats not so much a mainboard comment...


I have a MSI neo4 with an amd 4400 x2.... I love the speeds with the cpu and x64, but dont have any other state of the art MB's to compare the board to. I have issues with my ram still, but possibly only because im too lazy as of yet to upgrade my bios and see if the newer gskill ram is supported in the upgrade(im running locked in at T2 and cant change any ram settings without losing post, the ram is a dual channel 2 gig pair designed to run at 2.5 etc at T1)

I dont really care about onboard sound, but some people swear by eax features and I dont believe they run on anything but SB hardware? My onboard SB live doesnt support high end eax stuff anyway, onboard sound is fine, but not as good as a seperate card anyhow.

Integrated wi-fi is pretty cool... kinda glad my MB doesnt have that though, cause it would really annoy me as im running x64 and wifi is so far a really tricky prospect on that OS.

I've been debating intel vs. amd.....why do you hate intel? For me I have always used intel so I've stuck with em. Is it the Microsoft factor? Or price?

It's kind of like with every well-known brand. You pay for the logo, not for the product. ;) From my experience Intel processors are more resistant, though (AMDs are kind of overclocked by default), they don't burn as easily as AMDs. ;)

Their both HT technology but the dual core is superior.
makes more sense being parrallel.
