New target for kamikazes

Post by jv_map »

As there has not been that much activity in the Bragging forum lately, I'll sneakily take the opportunity to show off my latest modeling attempt.

Image Image Image

These 23,000 tonnes of steel go by the name:

HMS Formidable
Illustrious class armored fleet carrier
Royal Navy

This ship served mostly in the mediterranean and the pacific, most notably being directly involved in the Salerno landings of 1943 and attacks on the Japanese mainland when the end of the war was nearing.

I will use the model in my skylimit mod, of which I intend to release a demo/beta asap.

Hope you like it 8-), feedback and sarcastic critizism welcome.

ah the un-shakeable optimism of youth.

It is a rather nice boat, good work.

All-in the model is just below 4500 polies and takes up about half the map grid at normal scale :P . Approximately 2800 polies are used up by the 40mm flak battery (these are included in the 4500).

I used 3ds max 5 and Lightray 1.3.6 for the model, Photoshop CS2 for the skin (1024x1024).

downloaded the mod, have a couple suggestions.

when i slow down, the plane doest lower itself by gravity. it sorta just, goes in the same direction and i can even still steer it. It'd be great if gravity started taking effect, or if it does already, that it would do it sooner.

i had this glitch a couple times, the landing gear wouldn't auto-come out. i had to pull up and return to get them to do so.

everything else is awesome, it seems so slow on a flat map like that, but it really is going fast...

i took a loosie at your scripts to try and immediately found
// or is it 'collide' :?
yes. Collide.

BACK ON TOPIC however, i didnt see anything that related to the gravity thing.

but besides those two things, excellent work!
