Hmmm well I always use -bounce 0 , to me it makes no real difference in the end lighting effect.
Radiosity lighting can take forever and to me is just not worth the time.
No grid?- never used it.
Post your worldspawn settings, that may help.

I don't have any settings in my worldspawn yet

So are you lighting your whole map just using normal light entities ?
This could be your problem and why its so time consuming.
Try throwing in a worldspawn value like..
ambientlight 10 10 10
=key =value

Do above and take out the lights. Even if your map is small using many lights could take days!

I took out all the lights and set the world spawn to ambiant 10 10 10..........went to compile and it still stops at the light and diffuse grids spot................stopped at 2% and holding after an hour or so..............

Have you been able to compile other maps in the past without this problem?
What is the size of your map and does it have many models etc?

This is my first map and it is so frustrating i am rady to quit already........I hav a complete sky box and BSP and VIS do fine but this dang MOHlight hangs up..........in all different places too........the only way to get it to go is to do bounce 0 and nogrid but then the map looks stupid..........Map size is 3120X3120 with a height of about 1000 or so............not large at all an it has several tanks and other vehicles in it along with furnature.......

Well the only thing I can suggest is if you send me, or someone you trust the .map file and see if I, or someone else can compile it without difficulty.
If you want me to do this for you i'll be happy to help.
PM me your msn if you want.

dont get too frsuterated, like anything that has a professional job associated to it's name it can be a little arcane at times
just takes practice.
although you've already sent it off, try compiling with the light stage in these parameters.
-v -bounce 0 -fast
this is the usual "test-phase" compilation of a map's lighting, quick yet it processes the basics of the lighting enough for you to see them.
It's also entirely possible that your MOHLight is corrupted. try reinstalling the SDK?
also remember your map won't look fantastically lit your first compile either, that would take huge compile times and a lot of adjustment. It'll most certainly look stupid the first few tries.

I agree lizard however he sent me the map and it compiled fine, its something his end with the light stage.
Very odd but it isnt going to stop him, in the meantime I advised him to build the map and if he hasn't figured it out by then, ill help light and compile it for him.

No it won't stop me but it is frustrating........I tried the -v -bounce 0 -fast and it still locked up on me........I also downloaded new drivers for my video card to no avail............still working
