.Map :: MoHAA Mapping

I want to map something.... I dont even have mohaa anymore, but dont really care to map for it anyway...

I got BF2 free... but so many deterrents to mapping for that hard to list em all...

COD2 - editor not out... and honestly, might not be as good as UO.

COD and UO - UO hands down over regular COD... but originally i dismissed these as cod2 was coming out, however, no editor, and well... the stock version sucks for more reason then limitted maps...

F.E.A.R. - I hear editor just came out, but dont know if I want to map for it... mostly due to settings... although I could make a nice sci-fi spacestation or something.... hmmmm....

Yea Splaetos I agree, I too after many years of mapping for mohaa have become bored and dissalusioned with the game and its limitations let alone the unwillingness of the public to try new maps.
I tried for a limited time to map for HL2 but didn't realy like hammer and like yourself have been awaiting the release of the COD2 tools
I have now decided to play with COD (even though I prefer mohaa gameplay) as there is much more chance of your work being seen due to the auto download.
My biggest problem is knowing what to build...I sit here making numerous buildings but not sure of a layout.

you wouldn't map for HL2 ? i was planning on leaving mohaa mapping last fall and going the source engine route simply because i heard how good and user friendly it was/is. still can't seem to let go of mohaa though. hell i don't even really play that much anymore but everytime i finish a map, i swear the next one is going to be the last one........which i had allready said two maps before. hell, this stadium and finishing up my mall map was going to be it and now i have requests for and indoor WWE style bash only map and i'm dying to do a snowy detroit.

maybe i'll just get hit by a car out of the blue and that'll end it there. knowing my luck, i'd survive and only have the use of my neck and mouth. they'll hook up a blowtube so i can control radient and state it'd be great therapy for me.

if i had to choose a game to mod for, it'd be HL2 using a Radiant instead of Hammer or CoD2 when the tools come out. CoD2 blows me away, i've never had such a rich game experience in SP, and the MP is pretty cool too.

But if i were you splae, i'd take up something new, i'd bet you're pretty tired of France and Germany atm right? try HL2 and i'll bet it'll refresh your taste of modding

I dont have HL2, and I've bought too many games recently =p

so im hesitant to buy a game ive never played.

On a side note, the longer cod2 is out the more I dislike it(for MP). The unsatisyfing aspects of it are unchangeable without a mod(which you cant really do yet), the MP maps they incliuded are crap... the spawn system still sucks... overall... UO is a much richer game =/

I dont really know anything about HL2... I played the original CS, without being very impressed... but thats the only experience I have with things at all in the HL realm. Maybe Ill give it a look.

How about Age of Empires 3? The editor is very simple, at least I think it is because I haven't really taken the time to figure out how it works.

i dont mean for CS or CSS. i mean for HL2 itself, if you're into MP there's plenty of people playing the DM version and if you're like me the SP capabilities are endless.

Anywho... if that is in reference to M$... anyone who thinks that the current state of certain aspects of the computer industry is of great benefit to anyone other then M$, might do well to study at the altar of the malcontent a bit =p Just my opinion =) Anyway, I took Tom's post as a joke, though im not familiar with the recent age of emrpires, typically in a strategy game, the mapping aspect of a custom scenario is quite simple(though of course, requiring thought), its the modding that and general allocatiosn of game concepts that take the most time and effort... =)

as for the computer industry i could care less what company has a monopoly on what aspects or what their politcs are as long as they output simple to use tools that have powerful applications or tools inside them. The same has been said of EA and yet you're modding for one of it's games on a Microsoft system.

Please stop squabbling, arguing about it makes no difference to any affairs.

I'm planning to move onto CoD2 - I don't actually like the game much itself at the moment, but i'm hoping (with the help of the Alternation crew) to change the game into something more playable.

If I was you, however, I'd explore the possibilities available in the HL2 system - that game was just sex in pixels

as for squabbling, it dont hurt no one, its not as if anyone attacking anyone personaly(unless I took malcontent as a insult rather then a compliment, btu that would be silly of me, as I think malcontents are precisely what M$ should inspire )

As for M$ and EA, I havent modded a thing on an ea game in over a year id say, my copy of bf2 gathers dust, and I truely despise thier current methods of operation... I do use windows and i find x64 to actually be a decent system with soem changes for the better... however, would I scrap it if I had any reasonable expectation of being able to still do what I want to without having to buy from M$? In a Second.

Aside from all that, if I'm willing ot boycott 95% of M$'s products due to the fact that I am force fed the one I have to use, what concern is it of anyone elses? Im sure M$ has lots of lawyers to defend them, they dont much need the extra defense =)

what are they planning to change?
