I take it it's the spearhead sdk you are using... and that you are loading the released map files...?

In the mainta folder, create a folder named maps. In the maps folder, create one that says dm.

this is where radiant should be pointing, by default..maybe

Mapbuilder setup should be :

MOHAA
MOHAA TOOLS or SDK
mainta/maps/dm

go into other options and select ffa/dm........hit ok or enter

select your map file, hit build map......

did you try and make your own first ? a small box with a light entity and a player start will get you on your way. Trying to edit stock maps, without first learning anything, can cause you some problems.

If you are taking the bsp files from the original games, and trying to work with those, forget it. No reverse engineering on those. Only problems

I would do them, but I have nowhere to post them, and the last time I tried to e-mail a large file, I couldn't do it.

If you are a trusting person, post the map file here, and perhaps somebody will do it for you........... for free even....lol

12 megs is big for a .map file. Maybe thats why you are having trouble compiling it. Did you try a small map, say, like the size of a small room, just to see if it works ?

I don't, and won't use programs that leave my machine open to the web.

Try a small map first, tell me what happens. It should only take you about 10 minutes to get back to me.

If you put together a map thats 12megs large, and you didn't stop every-so-often to compile it, it's gonna be a bear to find and fix all that may be wrong with it. You should do a little work, compile, then do a little more, that way, catching mistakes as you go. Save it under several different name, or versions as you go.

Is your .map a decompiled BSP? The bsp-to-map decompiler doesn't make a usable .map file because it creates thousands of extra brushes and fails to create a lot of the triggers and other entities. It is used mainly to study how things were made and maybe copy a building or two.

I would compile your maps for you, and I have a place to host them and everything. I could also take a look and perhaps see if there is anything suspicious that would interfere with the compile (I know I am not the most experienced mapper here, but I still have been doing it for a few years, so I have much more than basic knowledge). We could use AIM for you to get the .map files to me. Feel free to PM me.

BTW, the SH source maps haven't been released, only the AA ones have.

custom maps do not work serverside! If you edit the .map and recompile it. your new .bsp is required by server and client. Checksum
