Pk3 file doesn't show up inside multiplayer map list

Post by Bobo »

is there a reason why (other than my ignorance) my pk3 file doesn't show up in the list of the maps inside the game. I create all the right directories and renaming the zip file to pk3 and puting it in the main folder yara yara yara....

I only have 1 bsp, and 1 shader file and a few custom textures, but I created all the directories the tutorial said to create, and left them empty, running out of ideas, any help out there?

thanks

1) Is the pk3 file in the "main" folder under your mohaa install?
2) Can you show us the file structure of your pk3 file (just to double check its setup)

yes the pk3 file is in the main folder where the game is installed, and I am using the EXACT same file and folder structure as the tutorial shown on this site titled "Basic .pk3 creation" .

I only have 1 bsp file and 1 shader file. the bsp file is in "maps/dm", and the shader file is in the "scripts" folder and I have tga files for custom textures that reflect the directory in the shader file wich is "textures/custom/various_texture_files.tga" so I have

(every level is a different color)

user-map2
maps
dm
scripts
textures
custom

then I zip up the user-map2 folder rename it to user-map2.pk3.
I also tried putting the rest of the folders even though they where empty, (exact same tree as tutorial) to no success.

Other info that might help to solve my problem

- I get a warning of a texture not found for the luxury-seat from static/furniture when I run MBuilder

- 0.8 % of faces are taken off (not sure why... I go to alot when in building mode making sure no brushes overlap)

- I also tried making a very simple map with no errors and the making a pk3 package, and still it does not show up in the list

- I can run the bsp file with no problems when I run it from the dm folder

thats about all the info I can think of that explains my situation

It was winzip all the time. I was doing nothing wrong, I tried "PakScape.exe" to create my pk3 file and everything works.

Thanks for the reply
