Compiling with filters on

i had my vis filtered and forgot to unfilter it before the final compile.
Will the compiler still compile my vis.....cause its going on 16 hours!

its at 75% :?

AFAIK filters just switch the display off. So the answer is yes. ;)

is it normal for a large map to take this long with a final compile

and what does this mean- vis derived = 0

It is bad if it says that at the end of the vis stage. Did it skip the vis stage? What do you have the vis option set to?

i always over engineer my maps so the compile never takes more than five minutes (ie. mall map, which is biggish takes about 3 minutes). i create hundreds of extra brushes and think them out so no texture is ever behind another brush. ever. takes longer but the fps is always good on my maps even if they're not that pretty.

nah it was creeping through the vis stage. it was Remagen so there was a lot of vis. it finished :D

bsp took 10 minutes
vis took 20 hours!
lighting took 20 minutes
