Hi , Im new to radiant and i seem to have a problem with the common textures not loading? i get the main clips ok "metal ,sand, gravel etc but not the others as in different metals etc. This is what comes up in the loading menu:
Loading texture common/blastmark2...LoadTGA: Only type 2 and 10 targa RGB images supported
failed!
Loading shader common/blastmark3 - common.shader...LoadTGA: Only type 2 and 10 targa RGB images supported
failed!
Anyone got any ideas? really annoying me thanks
Yeah its there ,i even deleted it and reinstalled ? strange like if i click on barrels no problems they all come up and so do the others ive used just the common at the moment ???@#
Those images were included in the game, but were never used because they are the wrong image type. In effect, they are junk the game designers forgot to remove. So, you can just ignore the error messages.
Hmm ok , well yes i take it there is more to the common textures than im getting as all im getting is like the titles as in .. Metal , Sand , Gravel etc there is no break down of say metals just the main metal icon? or is that it? thanks
Well, you should have "caulk", "portal", "Player Clip", "nodraw", "trigger", and many others as well.
Metal, wood, gravel, etc... are sound producing textures. If, say, you want the ground to have a gravel crunch when a player walks over it, you would place a brush over the ground and use the gravel clip texture on it. Also, if you have a static truck that does not react to bullets, you can place the metal clip around it so bullets bounce off with a metal sound and sparks.

Here is a site with video tutorials that you may like. But, you really should do the html one (Getting Started Tutorial) that came with the editor first (docs folder).
