The Engine...

I was chatting to Chris (the developer) and Aazumak (A Modeller) who are creating Darsana, they are looking for interested people than can help out, mappers in particular, so if any of you guys have some free time give Chris a shout on his website.

You can map with GTK or Radiant, Chris will fill you in on the details ;)

The Engine spec sounds pretty good too

for tweaked and modded Q1 code, that's brilliantly done. i would have expected Q2 at least.

Check out Nexuiz, a game based on an improved DarkPlaces engine.

Since the Quake 3 engine has been GPL'd, I think it would be awesome to implement dynamic lighting, bump mapping and a proper particle system in it - it would bring it much closer to the modern 3D engines.

Even prefabs would be a bonus, like castles, churches, villages (medievel kinda theme)

Looks like they made really nice progress so far, I'm always too busy to take on any personal projects but I handed my notice in at work a couple days ago and I leave at the end of the month, hopefully to get some time to myself (all I do is work) if it works out I would be interested in making a prefab castle or something.

I just remembered, wacko, nuggets, another guy called hanzwurst and I were building a map for mohaa, looong time ago, my point is Hanz made a beautiful church, really grade A work, if I can find the files and the other guys are ok with it (im sure they wont mind) I will try to get it into a prefab for you.

I think any prefabs need to be in .map or .3ds for GTK Mj
