Media editor?

i've worked with machinima and just general game videos a bit, and i like it, but i'm just not able to do waht i envision with Windows Movie Maker. is there a good FREE program that allows me to do zoom-ins and dynamic effects (.gif file overlaps) instead of forcing me to break a movie clip into two and take a screenshot and modify that?

in other words whats a good movie editor?

Have you tried the windows media encoder? It is not movie maker it does a lot more .

gonna check that out, i use WMM a lot to make animated .gif

no i have that, and i love it. VERY useful program. what i meant was a better moie editing program, Movie Maker is good for simple applications and such, but it just doesnt have what i want.
