Getting off ladders

I've created my first ladder and followed the tutorial but I must have missed something as I can get up the ladder but not off at the top.
I have placed the function ladder over my texture and made the function ladder slightly bigger.
Can anyone help?

make sure you don't have a brush above where your ladder ends that doesn't allow for the full height of the player model to exit the ladder.
