I would help if you were a bit more specific
Which program are you exporting the 'modle' with?
Which program is refered to by 'it'?
What does it say, exactly?

What program are you useing ? In milkshape create a mesh then a joint select your mesh then goto the joint tab and use the select unassigned button then select your joint to assign the verts of the mesh to the joint . In lightray 3d convert the mesh to a skin and then use the edit vertices button choose select unassigned by draging the list up if you have to , the blue verts that are selected will then have green boxes around them then the best way is to select the assign to bone button and choose a bone from the scene list the verts should turn red . That is the way for a static model with only one bone if you are doing an animation where parts of the model move you will have to do it a bit different .
