When I go to try and upload my avatar by browse to machine all it does when I hit submit is go to a completly white screen.
then when I try to link it to my other site for the avatar which is a .jpg it says that the file must be a jpg, gif, or png. Then I tryed linking it to my gif avatar and I got the same messege... is there somthing wrong?

ok, try re-uploading the Jpeg image again, however change it so that the name does not include the extension in upper case.

E.g.

At the moment its,
  • http://www.freewebs.com/kangarooflapjacks/lover.JPG
(Notice the caps)

Simple re-name it, and rewrite the ".JPG" as ".jpg"

Re-upload and it should work fine.

*EDIT*
I just tryed my own av with a .JPG extension and i get the msg you get "must be .jpg, .gif etc etc" so its deffo due to the above problem.

Lol! I'll submit a bug report to phpBB team.

And this doesn't belong in this forum either.

<EDIT>Bug reported. Let's see if they do anything about it. ;)</EDIT>

I can't beleive how they wouldn't have notice a bug like this aready. Seems like a common one to me if you think about the amount of users who admin/mod/members of a phpbb forum. . . maybe the worlds to lazy to submit a report. . . lazy ass'

Ah server permissions were incorrectly configured. They were correct before, but gamespy must have been messing with them :? . I put your avatar in place, and like it much :D

P.S. I only managed to upload it from local machine, I believe upload from URL doesn't work because of the way php is configured on this server...

If this is true, then it wouldn't be able to be displayed on the post above would it?

I use a URL av and IT was due to the .JPG / .jpg extension because i tryed my own av with a .JPG and it comes up with a "can only use .jpg" error msg even tho it is, i simply save as lower case and hey presto.. . .. .. ..

dunno who presto is tho.

Hmm interesting when I tried it via the admin panel it said it could not make a connection w/ the remote server, both in the uppercase and lowercase extension case :?
