Gunfight at the OK Corral

Again, since I posted this map at TMT, I thought it's only fair to post it here at .map. I've tried to recreate Tombstone, Arizona in 1881, when the famous gunfight at the OK Corral occurred. I had to scale it down quite a bit, it was a pretty good sized city, even then. The buildings and signs are as real as I could make them. Good portions of the city burned down on several occasions, so some of the buildings look closer to what they look like today.

Here's another map for Tom Trude to convert to COD2, if he wants a real challenge.

I thank you. Coming from you, that's quite a compliment, as you do a nice job with custom textures, as well. It makes the Pk3 file pretty big, though.

After deleting all the patch mesh and entities, there are 2457 brushes , and god knows how many faces, to retexture. Where's the challenge in that? Of course, almost all of the textures will have to be converted -- Doh! But, Cod2 does have dead horses!
Thanks!

Try again. My FTP site tends to be sort of crappy.

Piece of cake! I'll bet there are lots of faces. I couldn't do the interior of the buildings because it was starting to get pretty slow performing.
All of these maps were designed to port to an engine that didn't have MOHAA's patch mesh format, so I didn't use very many meshes.

i've been to Tombstone (last summer actually), so i can tell you, NICE JOB. i might have some pictures from around it still, but that looks pretty accurate to the time period and the textures are magnificent!
i might have to try this on Q4, if the engine doesnt die of the outdoors strain.

Thank you. Just as a point of interest, the OK Corral as you saw it with the high walls did not exist that way in 1881. It has burned down several times. The high walls were added so the tourists have to pay to see the gunfight re-enactment. My low fences and their placement are very close to the way it was in 1881. The actual gunfight did not occur in the OK Corral, but in the area between the photographer's shop, the boarding house and Big Nose Kates. The Earps ran through the OK Corral to get to the gunfight scene.
The Crystal Place, Big Nose Kates and The BirdCage Theater were especially challenging to recreate. There are many images of these buildings, but they are from different time periods, and few show adequate detail. The stagecoach is also authentic to Tombstone during the 1880s.
