personally, i believe radient is a resource hog so i keep the number of pk3 files in my mohaa/main to a minimum when mapping. however though i don't think there is a limit on the size of a custom texture folder; i do believe that depending on your cpu's power, there could be trouble even if you clear your mohaa/main folder out of mods and only have one huge custom texture.pk3 file in there. case in point....you'd have to have a real strong cpu in order to not have radient shut down by opening general_industrial & misc_outside folders again and again .
it used to be that with just 256 of RAM , i could only open small texture files and then a big file like general_industrial once per session. but as i added more RAM i was able to open bigger texture files more per mapping session. still happens once in a great while but no where near as often as it used to with the smaller RAM.
in the end, it's your cpu working against the size of the file(s) .
i will of course, bow to jv or rook's entry.

Hi PKM
Thats strange....I have never experienced that any other texture pack has made my Radient crash. Maybe if I split the textures up in small directories...?
So you mean its the size of all the textures together rather than the amount of the files that matters?
I have 2.8 Pentium with 1 GB RAM and a 128 RAM graphic card....that should be enough....if u ask me...

if you have something with that much RAM, you should have no problems with radient crashing because of the file size. might want to start checking the scripts/shader for the textures.
if the above happens to me, i either delete the last texture(s) i added or just rewrite the whole shader

Ill take a look at the shader....
btw...it worked fine with 20 texures

gotta go through it...

It will work better if you put all your downloaded pk3s in a temp folder in main. Radiant loads every texture/shader it can find, when it starts up. So, putting the downloaded pk3s in a temp folder will stop that.

Hi tltrude,
I have no other pk3 files than the files that comes from MOHAA and updates..
I have to choose which ones I want to use in my pk3 and deselect some of them...
