1) How to use a main with black texture and not have the black showing.
I have seen a lot of texutres where it has "black" around the main part of the texture, and the black doesn't show up once the game is stareted.
I want to know how to do this.

1. have the background as transparent or no background *
2. save as .tga
3. use corresponding script (someone else will have to post the correct shader for this, i just ''go and grab'' from gen_industrial)
* i don't use phot$lut so i'm not exactly sure what the process is for this

Just copy one of the grapevine shaders and modify it to use your image.
If you want to learn more about Shaders, you can read all about them in the Q3 "Shader Bible". http://www.qeradiant.com/manual/
By the way, see-through images have an "Alpha" layer. It masks the parts of the image that are not going to be invisible.
