Flashlight Mod

I need a flashlight mod, it doesn't have to actually be a flashlight model or anything like that, just when they hit a binded button by the mod it will kick it into play with a short beam of light that shows infront of them only (about 5 yards so they can see around in my dark tunnels) Is there one already? If not can someone make it.

there is one of these on a gun in the modern combat full mod. I think its scripted to just that one gun though. try and find it.

So it'd be possible to possibly rip it from that mod ;) leave credit too of course

yes, another one of jv's devious inventions. it's fairly standard in game now, however. all that happens is a dynamic light is spawned within a sighttrace distance of hte player. for instance, if the player was standing on a flat map with no walls his light would project a set amount if front of him, if he faces a wall the light will hit the wall at the closest intersection between player and wall.

it causes some lag, however, as dynamic lights are not a Q3 specialty.

generally in games nowadays, however, a bulb overlay is put on the player's screen and the client light model is changed based on that, which looks natural and fine. the only problem is transmitting this to multiplayer efficiently, which is still not easily done, as a conical light is more difficult to derive than a spherical.

Of course you probably won't get that, but i still thought it was worth noting.

you could try, but i think deffo on just the one gun. Maybe look at the script and try your own based on that?

Jv did a very ingenious trick of attaching a spotlight to the barrel of the gun. :)

i'll have to play through it again.. but the version i played was just a projected light, it had no dimensions different than a regular light. :\

Exactly, just like a spotlight, the one you get with the MG42s in SP. It's just a scaled-down one. :)

Ok, so is it a real looking flashlight "light" or just light the light that would go infront of you, cause if it's that then I'm not really wanting it no offense.

i love the modern warefare mod. I wish there was a darker map on iy to fully test out the smg with the light tho.. because it looked good, but was totally pointless...

Yah that covers it well.. we originally tried to make it blind other players when they looked into the light but it would usually blind the player holding the weapon too :(

modern warfare should have gotten a LOT more recognition than it did. probably the most professional mod i've seen to date, topped CS1.6 for me.

i'll have to redownload, it was a spotlight? could have sworn it was just a dynamic light in front of the player.
