Opening SKD?

Post by Wells »

All i want to do is take the legs of one model and put them on another. i understand this involves editing the skeleton model. I recently got autosketch 9 but that wouldnt open the skd. I've downloaded most the modeling programs listed on the site but no luck. Any hints on how i can do (what sounds like) a simple change?

You will need to download the MOHAA plugin for lr3D too from thier site .

So to take for example, the torso from heerprivate.skd and put it on the legs of allied_pilot.skd, none of the other programs listed in the "all you need to know about modding" guide will work? say, maya, blender, etc.

Nothing is going to work without the mohaa plugin to import the model . The only two programs I know of that can handle mohaa models are milkshape and lighray3d . I think milkshape can only export skb models but lr3d can export the skd file format . You can try importing into lr3d and exporting in a format for another modeling program but you will need to use lr3d to export your model because it has the mohaa plugin . Lr3d will not export untill you buy it though . There are plugins for 3dmax but they are for versions 4 or 5 I don't think you will even be able to find those version any more . I don't even know if the 3dmax plugins where able to import mohaa models . To export them you had to export them as .skl files then use a converter to convert them .

I got the skd open in milkshape (thanks to bdbodger's plugin) is there any easy way to copy the meshes and bones from one (pilots pants) into another (heerprivate tunic)?

Milkshape will work with static models only. Lightray3D is the only software that can handle player models.

Chrisredfield003 offered exporting models, maybe he can help you?

Exporting to mohaa is the easy part.
You will need to assign the bones, that's the tricky part. When moving model parts etc...
