I got this error today after cloning some script_objects & trigger_multplies and saving a selected cablespool_full as a static model:

Code: Select all

WARNING: static model brush [mins = (-2314.0 -5120.0 219.0), maxs = (-2393.0 5100.0 225.0)] outside map bounds
Now I have probably close to 100 of these errors. I have so many I can't get to the beginning of the compile.

Are the coords in these errors the actual coords of the static model brush?? So I can find the problems & remove them.

Like I said all I did was clone some script_objects & trigger_multiples & saved that selected cablspool as a static model.

Compiled & was testing my script & noticed this

Looks like some how I copied the entire map. But it doesn't show up in Radient. How do you think I could fix this???

Just for a test, ..... put a caulk brush around your entire map. Totally encasing it. Hit the hollow button. Recompile map and see what you come up with.

Looks like you may have moved your skybox or some items got moved outside the skybox like info_spawn or coords 0 0 0 should be inside your skybox. your pic is that info spawn or did you float spec up out of the box?

hmmm. look above your skybox, use "select inside" and see if you get anything.

Well I did what you said be as it was compiling I still got all those errors so I'm gonna assume that the copy of the map is gonna be there too. I'll keep you posted.

I even see it when I walk around the map Viper. When I saved the cablespool_full as a static model I was still in my map. I didn't open a new map then save it. Could that have caused my problem???

well, looks like a missing texture or the backside of the brush has been extended outside the box or into another brush.

When you cloned you may have had other yhings selected or moved some other things.

You can restore it with a snapshot back before you cloned if you can't figure it out.

I thought he was half way in and half way out of the skybox. Perhaps there's no "roof" on the map ....?

if you still have the caulk thing I suggested above, texture the inside and see what happens.

Also, the map seems extremely big, you may want to rework the skybox to connect to the tops of some of those walls.... will help with that lousy 33 frames per second you are showing........... if you do it right.... and will also aid in the use of vis.

I have a leak in the skybox to speed compile times during testing.

I have tryed using a snapshot before I cloned anything but it still get that error.

Plus in Radient the duplicate map is no where to be found  So I can't even select it & delete it.

Describe your use of snapshot - if you use snapshot your using an older saved version. If the problem persists its not the map.

How many snapshots do you have of this map? and which did you try?

I have quite a few Viper. But I tried the last snapshot before todays date & It still did it. But I compiled a completely different map & has no problems.

When I use a snapshot I just have to rename it with the .map extension, right?

Yes, and remove any anscillary files (except .map) from your source folder like .prt and .vis and same for destination folder like bsp before compile. It will work - you are feeding info from a later file - you just need to remove it.

I did as you said, even removed all the snapshot after the one I used to go back to & still get the error.

I think the error means there is somthing that is not only outside the sky box, but outside the limits of the grid. Perhaps switching to a different view will help.

i found whats causing the problem(see screen shot up top) but i cant see it in Radiant to remove it. I have 1 leak in my map which I put there on purpose. To speed compile times while in testing stages. I used Pointfile & it drew a red line from the leak(i made) in the skybox to one of the targets in the map. Does that mean anything??
