video freeze

Guys, I have a serious problem. Been struggling with it for few weeks.
My PC wont let me run video's anymore. I use WMP11. Whenever I try to play a video, WMP freezes, followed by a complete PC freeze. Only thing left to do is to reset it. I tried other movieplayers (realplayer, itunes) but they all end up with the same bs.
I've searched the net over, but I can't really find any solution, tho I've read that it has something to do with installing new videodrivers on over AGP drivers, something which I did. Because this problem started when I bought my new GeForce 2 weeks ago (I also posted other posts here about moh not working, but that's a sideproblem now).
Something I should mention is that I can hear sounds when playing a video. But I only don't see anything. After few secs the sounds freezes too, then WMP in total, like just discribed.
HELP!! please. I know it has something to do with codecc and drivers, but I don't know which or what I have to install or remove.

i suggest checking your codecs. Re-download the codec pack for WMP. I had the same problem on my secondary computer; avi videos only had sound, no video. Updated the player fully and downloaded a codec pack and it fixed it.

Thanks for quick response.
I don't really know what all codecs I have.
And what kind of codec pack are you suggesting? Any link perhaps? :)

Well what i did was go to msoft and re-download WMP 11 (which didn't fix it), then i went to DivX and redownloaded the codec. This was only for .avi, and it fixed it, but if you're not able to run any video on any player, then i'd say download this. (which i was referred to, so dont quote me on it)

This is ridicilous.. My video's finally worked (yay) while I didn't do anything. Then I tried to run Moh. Crashed. Restarted PC. Video's freeze again..

Hmm ok thanks I will try that pack.
However, I'm not sure if installing more codecs will help this. I'm afraid it would only cause more conflicts.

Alright. So that doesn't work. The pack.
More tips and tricks?

Download this player for now.

http://www.videolan.org/

It is free and it supports a large number of multimedia formats, without the need for additional codecs. It doesn't have all the bells and whistels that WMP has, but it will play almost any video -- even damaged or incomplete ones.

I got that Player. And it doesn't work... :(
I don't think it has any to do with codecs anymore, since I've got about all downloadable codecs by now... It has something to do with my drivers vs my AGP.

What? You mean both the same topics? No. Because I didn't thought the two problems had to do with the same cause. One was about videos, and the other just about moh.

Seems to me to be two topics but the same issues with the same card .

he didnt know that, it might have seemed a little more obvious from our point of view but it's not a huge deal. It's how you learn, right?
