We have some great news to share with the ForumPlanet community!
The hard-working lads in GameSpy engineering are nearing the
implementation phase of a complete ForumPlanet upgrade. Here are
just a few highlights of things to come with this upgrade:
* improved search
* robust profiles
* improved private messaging
* favorite-boards management
* improved markup tags
* improved administration/moderation tools
In this transition, we made the difficult decision to move to
unique usernames across the ForumPlanet boards system moving
forward. What does this all mean to you? Basically, this means
you will be asked to choose just one unique nickname for all
ForumPlanet-based forums. We know this is a lot to ask, but in
the end you will see it's worth it!
For example,the changes will make it much easier to find your
friends at other ForumPlanet forums, enable you to create a
collection of favorite boards from various forums on one page,
offer centralized private messaging regardless of what forum
you are on, and wipe out any mistaken-identity issues. These
are just a few benefits for unifying ForumPlanet.
We will be starting this transition on 02/19/07. This is what
you need to do:
1. Go to http://login.forumplanet.com and Logout.
2. Once logged out, choose Login
3. If you have a unique nickname already, you
will not be required to do anything
further -- congrats!
4. If your account does not have a unique nickname
or your choice is taken, you will be redirected
to a page where you can manually enter a new one
or use one of the suggested nicknames we supply.
That's it! The whole process is pretty painless and you will be
up and running in no time. We suggest you do this right away,
so you can avoid the mad rush and snag your preferred
unique nickname.
Please note: The new unique nickname will not be used
until after the ForumPlanet update.
