Lighting Problems

On my map, around some columns I made and then put caps on, your character fades to black as if you were somewhere without light. Anyone know what's goin on? I have ambient light at 40 20 20 giving it a red tint, but other than that, everything's pretty normal. There's a whole row of the columns and walking on one side you're normally lit, but walking on the other turns you black... I'll put screenshots up if they're needed.

I haven't used sun before ... help ?
And a quickie question: How do I add a corona to a light so it looks like it's lit? I had one once, but it would move as the player moved so it was never quite inside the light.

Try static/corona
the shadow.... you don't have a light entity on the other side of the pillars do you ?

Don't change the angle of your corona, just add it to the bulb as is.

The only light near the posts is ambient.
the static/coronas work great, thank you. Is there a way to turn them red? or is there one somewhere else?

Thanks Tltrude, found it and it works great.
This is for the original problem:

I cannot figure out what's wrong. Maybe the water?

What about a screen shot of your map in radiant ? Do you have a light entity just below that light ? Does it target something to make it a spotlight did you set a radius ?
skybox?

Does your map have a skybox?

Partially, I leave it uncomplete so it compiles faster...
I tried it compiled and got the same result.
I changed water without any result as well. Could the caps on the posts becausing this, I used them again in a lighthouse I added later and the problem occurs up there, I have the same type of caps on the columns on a ladder on the top.

If you set mapbuilder to v-fast-fast, it'll compile fast enough without trying any "tricks".

I couldn't ever get mbuilder to work, so I made my own .bat that compiles my maps...
Working on the screenshot right now. One sec, I'll edit this post and add it.
Edited:

There is a light, orange corona, and street lamp on the Lamp pole. For the caps on all the columns I've been using the Curve>Cap>Cylinder/Dialog. Other than that, I can't think of anything else.

-final

the problem might be caused by the "detail" brushes. Wholes in the skybox can cause strange shadows. Also, compiling with -final for light will fix some dark spots. It takes longer.
