Simple Fog

After messing with farplane, farplane color, farplane cull, etc. for about an hour now (no less...) I still have yet to have a decent looking grey fog. Right now my map is generating the sky background, but nothing in front of it, which is unrealistic to me. Could someone give me the very basic fog numbers?

this is from anzio........ with and without fog if I remember right. You'll have to mess with the values a little. copy and paste into your script after wait til spawn.

$world farplane 2200
$world farplane_color ".09 .10 .12"
$world farplane_bias 250

or

$world farplane 4200
$world farplane_color " 169 69 26 " //".09 .10 .12"

the firdst numbers are the distance at which you can see. the second numbers is the color. if you open up paint and goto advanced setings, you can mess with custom colors and find something you like. The numbers in the right hand boxes is what you want. Just put a . ( dot ) in front of the values when using them in your map.

You may want to change your sky to skycaulk. Don't know what sky you have or what you are looking for.

$world farplane_color ".333 .333 .333"

The three numbers are for red, green, and blue.

"0 0 0" = black
"1 1 1" = white

So, ".333 .333 .333" is gray, but you can adjust the numbers to give it a tint. For example, if you add more blue ".333 .333 .344" it would look better in a night map. Less blue ".333 .333 .233" would make it look brownish gray.

Can this be done on the mapping side? I was adventurous enough getting the trap door to work...

Yes, but I recomend scripting it or your stuck with the results. If you script it - it can easily be changed later.

open up paint... ( start/all programs/accessories/paint )

colors/edit colors/define custom colors

select a color, or move the "x" hairs around to get a color you like, or move the slider up and down to get your color. where it says red/green/blue..... put a decimal point (.) before each of those numbers when you script it in, and that will become the fog color ( farplane_color ) in your map

When working in radiant, you can use this tool also.

you can also use this to change the colors of your lights in radiant.

paint colors are 0 to 255 to convert to mohaa devide the color from paint by 255 and just keep the first two decimal point places should be close enough .
