TRACTOR WORKS MP map released....

Post by Slyk »

"Tractor Works" multi-player map released, v1.0 The map is mid-size and prefers higher end machines, sorry. It is also a SPEARHEAD map, as what Stalingrad theme would work without the Russian???? None, just ask my wife! :D

Anyway, it's available here: www.paonline.com/marconia/mp_TractorWorks_dm.zip

Constructive critisism and suggestions are welcome! It's got some areas that could be tweaked more, but after 3 non-stop months and 300 hours, I've got to get it off my machine!

Hope you enjoy! TOW/OBJ in the planning.

Well, I hope that you can play the map!

I submitted it to the site admin address as directed, also to AA.com and AA.us by their request...but it went here first!

There may be some issues with needing a shorter farplane, now it is 7168, maybe all the way down to 5120. Mtex ranges are 6.0-ish to 28 in some areas...farplane might help that, but I'm not sure. I tried to keep a longer farplane for snipers though, as in the main outside corridor you can see about 75% of the length of the map from either end. Hard to do a map like this and not use huge VIS blocking walls all over. It's a FAST VIS and FINAL light for those who may care. FULL VIS is like three days running and not finished before my nerves and patience.

IF anyone is a pro at VIS LEAF GROUPS, I'm open to help!!!!

Map looks good although you should've reconsidered the farplane color.

Make all brushes that don't block sight detail and you'll run a full vis compile in a couple of minutes 8).

JV- if I make so many brushes 'detail', won't that play havoc with the FPS? I did that in some limited areas a while back and it seemed to cut the FPS by 10-20%??? I'm a little stupid and too impatient to run that long VIS.

I'll give it a map-wide go and see...tweak it for the OBJ/TOW version and maybe release as a two-map pack, make it easier, right?

Thanks for the comment!

You shouldn't make all brushes detail, that equals running a fast vis compile.

Make brushes that don't efficiently block sight detail, others should be structural.

It's all mine. Did it without any connection to EaG. I've been contacted about doing some stuff for them, but don't know if it will go as their project is up in the air right now. I've got four or five ideas for Stalingrad related maps, working on two others at the moment but need to refocus here and tweak the TM version before publishing an OBJ/TOW.

The map looks extremly cool and i'll let u know what i think of it

I must admit the collapsed duct reminds of enemy at the gates - but that is a good thing 8)

The exterior part of the map looks very nice with some good details i was quite impressed.

The interior I cant really say as I thought it was very Dark I could hardly see a thing see screenshot.

Also i noticed a missing textures - heres 2 screenshots to tell u where it is
