because i am a new mapper I want to start with something simple like a map with little or no scripting
is it possible to make a map that allows me to go through the map and get to a certain point without any scripting (single player) (except for your start weapons)
another thing does anyone have a .map single player file that I could look at for ideas. (with script if there is one)
thanks please help

With singleplayer, scripting is inevitable. Between spawns, special ai commands, and objectives, you pretty much have to be a decently knowledgeable coder to do it.
Multiplayer is easier, i guess.
But rule of thumb for making new maps, is don't make big ones. Start small, try to learn how to make detailed environments and those editor tricks to conserve space on the map, and those nice little gimmicks like planes flying overhead or shutters banging. Get a feel for textures and geometry before making a big project.
Indoor or urban maps are usually the easiest, as they don't REQUIRE any/much LOD terrain.
For me, i like small african towns, for my maps. You can make them relatively flat without feeling guilty, the buildings are usually simple (but can be the most complex), and i just like the desert.

You might find some useful information by examining map-files that are done by more experienced mappers.
Visit the
MOHAA recycling bin, where you will find some. Also, u can download the
mohaa stock mp maps, but imho these are a bit more complex and harder to comprehend...
This will give u some feeling for dimensions and how things are done by others

Glad to hear this
I just took a look into Wolf myself and must confess that some things could better be done differently.
To a beginner, I also like to recommend:
- read some basic tutorial here
- in preferences change texture scale to 0.5,
- activate Snapshots,
- For the basic brushes, stay on the grid.
have fun
