patrols and areaportals

I have a problem with a patrol and getting it to start walking

in my SP map my player starts in a small bathroom and there is an areaportal to increase fps
The problem is that how can I get the patrol to start moving before i open the door and the areaportal
The guy starts on his route as soon as the door is open and i want him to start on the patrol when the level starts

Could this be done without scripting?
could i put a trigger_multiple to trigger the ai and make him move before i open the door?

Does the door have a targetname . You maybe able to use connect_paths to make sure that the path is connected

$door connect_paths
connect_paths
Connects all navigation paths which intersect with the specified entity's volume

Give your patrol dude the key:

forceActivate

(leave the value field emtpy, just hit enter twice).

Ah yes never thought of that could be . Different vis portals do strange things .
