A good Geoforce 4 card will do the trick. You can buy an expensive one but if you are not running battlefield 1942 then you don't need it. Is it graphics you are looking for or ping?

This should be in the "off topic" section.

I recently went from a tnt riva 32mb to an asus 64ddr V9180. Works great. It is an AGP8x card.

which version, that makes a difference.

If it's 8500 and above you're ok, if it's in the 7000 series - run away!

I think I may be way late on this post, but go with the new radeon 9700 pro. It stomps the best GeForce4 in almost every benchmark. I have the 9700 pro aiw version, which allows me to have some awesome video capabilities. Plus the 9700 Pro has 128 MB unboard, unlike the geforce 4's wimpy 64

kay .. really depends on your budget ... if you want a good allrounder ... with minimal costs ...

ATI-R9000pro 64/128mb ?60-90

If you want a bit more speed ...

GF4 ti4200 64/128mb ?90-130 (allot of variants now look out for mem & core clk speeeds)

And for a bit more speed and dx9 support

ATI - R9500pro 128mb - ?160 +My pick of the bunch faster than the gf4 range

and the creme dela creme ....

ATI - R9700pro - ?230 + if you want stupid speed and high quality gaming this is the only card to have....

I could go on about the Geforce FX but ive heard that there are only to be 100,000 produced then they moving on to NV334 and NV35 chipsets ... due to its inability to rival ATI`s flagship card the "R9700 pro"...
anyhow hope this helps

Having played games for a long time and tried to keep my machine decent i would not touch any of the aboves advice about ATI due simply to one word "CATALYST" ATI have fooked up them drivers so many times its funny now.

I would love an 9700 Pro it is the best card out nothing comes close to it, but would prefer an Nvidia simply because Detontators are better drivers if i had the cash i would get a 4800Se or Gainward Golden Sample ti 4600.

Its out a year its got support, new drivers come out every 2 months.

Ok, I am an avid gamer. I have so many games it isnt funny ... Not a single problem with my 9700pro. I am a computer art major, and use 3dmax, Maya, and bryce.

I dont have problems with any game or application.
