need help with the smallest ever problem

hi all i used to be a mapper but i stopped for awhile now i want to do it again, ive forgot everything i know and i have a question.

how do i make thin brushes like the ones in v2 etc, mainly because im making a different version of v2 and i cant figure it out

like there the v2 is, there are two main levels. and on the second level there are railings kind of like saftey rails :D

also what are the shortcut keys to stretch a texture to the size of a brush

1st: Maybe your grid size is still at default 8 units. U can change this via number keys 1,2,3... or menu grid

2nd: Ctrl+F

fitting the texture to the brush is ctrl+f . the railing is probably a thinner brush (2u) , textured with no draw and then one of the sides has a railing texture (with transparency) .

Probably rather a legend in misunderstanding questions and telling people what they didn't want to know (or even crap) :?
PKM is right, those very(!) thin "brushes" are just textured on one side. Study the stock maps or some at the recycling bin, and u'll see how it's done :)
