is Scripting neccisary?

Hello again all. just one quick question. Can I make my map a.pk3 without any scripts? I've looked at every other map in pk3 form and they have close to 200 files in them and no folders to organize them. I just wanna know what the main files i need to add are, no more and no less. lol. thanks for the help.

Of course you can. It's just that scripts allow you to do more stuff with your maps. :)

Ok thats pretty cool. i wanna learn how to script but have really no computer schooling. Just what i've picked up on my own and what my dad taught me. but anyways. can someone tell me what the main files are that need to be in ur pk3? i just wanna send it to my clan members.

other than jv, rookie and a couple others...we all basically learned from what we picked up on our own . ask ask ask and search search search .

Maverick, to distribute your map, make sure to include:
.bsp
.min

The .scr is optional (but I advise adding one as a tdm/dm script is less than 5 mins work).

Do not include:
.prt
.lin
.vis

Ofcourse, if you used any custom textures, sounds, models or a loading screen, include those as well.

ok, i've been trying every single thing i can think of and my pk3 will not register in my mohaa main folder. Is there anyway i can just send my files to someone who could put the map into a pk3 for me? I can send all the files that r needed but i cannot figure out a way to make this work for the life of me. any help would b nice. u guys can even change my map up if u like just make sure that anyone know that the map was changed/edited in a readme.(haven't writen one yet. lol.)

if all you have is a .bsp with no .scr file included , you can simply place the .bsp in YOUR mohaa\main\dm folder . you don't have to build a custom .pk3 until you wish to distribute it ( and even then you really don't ) .

Don't be scared of scripts, heres a very basic one, just keep messin with it.

There you go, save it as "yourmap.scr" in the directory where you map is saved!

Mine is "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\MOHAA\main\maps\dm\rage.scr"

You can keep this ".scr" in that folder and it will execute even if you do not ".pk3" it!

how r u making ur .pk3 file?.....r u putting in the paths as they should be?.....remember even in a .pk3 file u still need the correct path to work u cant just throw them all in there together...ur .bsp and .min need to go to a maps/dm folder in ur pk3 then if u have a .scr file that will need to go in there too....the same maps/dm folder....any custom textures will need to go to a textures folder and so on....
