Making a Map Freeze-Tag Ready

I am trying to figure out on my own how to make a map ready for freeze-tag. I have looked all over the MEFY site and none of the links work for any examples. Our servers are all freeze-tag and I want to figure out for myself how to get my map capable for freeze-tag. Can someone give me an example or point me in the right direction to do this? I have a src for my map but I have done very little scripting other than the loadscreen so I will need it in noob terms lol. Thanks a lot!

I don't think there is anything you need to do. Any map that runs in team match should be FT-ready by definition. :)

You can download mefy's mod and look how he setup his maps.

http://medalofhonor.filefront.com/file/ ... _Mod;77426

Look at the code before level prespawn 8-)

Code: Select all

switch (waitthread global/libmef/util.scr::get_gametype)
	{
		case "ctf":
		case "ftctf":
		case "dem":
		case "ftdem":
                  level.mef_settings["respawn"] = 1
			level.mef_settings["ticktime"] = 60
			waitthread global/libmef/spawn.scr::spawnblock_begin
			waitthread setup_bases
			break
		case "ft":
		case "rbm":
			//waitthread global/libmef/spawn.scr::spawnblock_begin
			thread roundbasedthread
			break
	}

When I try to open them I get an error saying something about it's not a recognized extension or some dumb thing. I can't open with any program. What am I doing wrong?

another way is just double-click on .scr, it will tell you not recognized blah blah, choose program from list and select notepad. :wink:

Okay, when I click on it it says it's not a win32 blah blah blah. However, when I open it through Notepad (going into Notepad, going to File, Open...) it opens right up. I just can't do it without going into Notepad first. Weird! Anyway, I have defeated its defenses!!

i usually just rename it to a .txt ext then open with notepad.....this is also how i edit it...then just rename back to .scr and all is good

You're doing it the wrong way, windows will refuse to open .scr files that way because in window's eyes scr files are screensaver files (in other words executables) He considers them anything but safe.

Follow my steps carefully:

1. Open any folder
2. At the top, click "Tools" and choose "folder options" in the list. A new window pops up
3. Go to the "file type" tab, wait a sec to let him load the list.
4. Now click "new", in the textbox, enter SCR and click ok.
5. Now your new filetype's at the top of the list (normally), select it.
6. Click Change, you'll get a new window asking to search a compatible program on the net or letting you choose one out of list. Choose the latter one.
7. Select wordpad in the list, click ok (that window closes), then in the remaining window click ok again

DONE! ;)

EDIT: Damnit just found out you bumped a months-old topic!!!
