I'm using a message mod, that prints 2 types of messages.

1. Global messages which scroll at the bottom throughout each map.
2. Specific Map messages which are simple iprints....

But..When I exec the script, I get this error:

Code: Select all

Cbuf_InsertText overflowed
Anyone Know whats up? (The script isn't really open to the public...if you are trust-worthy and smart, I'll PM you the script.)

This is quite weird, it's an error that appears when the console's command line is too long. Are you runnig the server locally or is it a dedicated one?

Dedicated...The script is supposed to be exec'd from my map script, but it doesn't seem to work....so I did it from console and got that error.

well, if the scr file contains scripting lenguage it won't work! ingame you can just run commands...but if it contains a list of commands, even if it's a scr file it still can be run (I'm sure of that), but I don't remember if gives error in this case!

No, I'm saying I exec'd the file.. I didn't use scripting in console. lol, but I got it working on my lan Server...So we'll see if it works. :)

how did exec it from your console?! this sound so strange..
however if you say it works on your lan server..probably there's somthing else wrong on your net server that did not let him run good, overflow can only be as Rookie said..too much words on your command line..

SilentAngel, he explicitly stated he executed it from the map script.

Are you using stufftext in that? Otherwise I can't really see how this error could possibly be related to a script. Does it cause the server to die (i.e. stop the game and return to console, just like a "killserver" command does, as opposed to the whole program just crashing)?

lol, no prob...no it wasn't stufftext...In the mod the global messages are in a dif. .txt file...in one of the lines I had 1 too many " marks. xD

All Fixed. btw...u can exec a script from console by doing so:

Code: Select all

exec location/urscriptname.scr
depending on if its a lan server or net, u have to use rcon in front of it.

Thanks for the help rookie...even though ur not really a rookie. :P

As a note for newbies, this only works if that script contains CONSOLE COMMANDS.
